Morning Aggregate: Look Around the U.S. Soccer World

There are a lot of quick hitter news bytes from around the U.S. Soccer world today.  In yesterday’s Morning Aggregate, the media call with Jurgen Klinsmann was recapped.  The coach said that Landon Donovan is being evaluated like any other player and he will need to show he is ready.  Donovan agrees that he still has a lot of work to do to return to the National Team.  It is nice to hear Donovan say he has to work and prove himself.  He had a great game against Sporting Kansas City last weekend and looks to continue that form.

The coach also touched on the Gold Cup roster.  Could Stuart Holden be on the roster for the Gold Cup?  He may not fit into the idea that those on vacation will not be considered, but it is a time to have him into camp and continue to build his fitness.  Holden said he didn’t want a break, so maybe he’s around the team this summer in some way.

Luis Robles is the starting keeper for the New York Red Bulls, but it hasn’t always been that way.  He scrambled to find jobs, followed some leads in Germany, and fretted over health insurance for a pregnant wife.  Leander Schaerlaeckens has the cautionary tale.

FC Dallas remains at the top for the second week in the Soccer Perspectives MLS Power Rankings.  The Philadelphia Union are the big movers. The postponed NWSL match between Kansas City and Boston is rescheduled for July 24.

Stoke City will have a ten day tour of the United States, including a match against FC Dallas.

Finally a guy kicking a soccer ball into a police car, because why not?
