The USMNT has impressed so far at the World Cup this summer, which they are co-hosting. Off the back of the tournament, many more American players will no doubt feature in the Premier League.

There have been some notable USMNT players who have already graced the Premier League. Here are the top 10.

The 10 best USMNT players to play in the Premier League

10. Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan is one of the greatest USMNT players. However, he only had two short loan spells in the Premier League with Everton. He was still effective in the division, scoring twice with six assists in 17 matches.

9. Kasey Keller

The goalkeeping position is one of the USMNT's best exports. Kasey Keller made a combined 201 appearances in the Premier League for Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, and Southampton. He is now an insightful pundit on ESPN.

8. Claudio Reyna

Claudio Reyna was a very good player for Manchester City before the Abu Dhabi investment came in. He made 77 appearances for City in the Premier League, scoring four goals and setting up two.

A further 22 games were played in the division for Sunderland, where he found the back of the net three times. Whilst at Sunderland, his son Gio Reyna was born. The younger Reyna is now a pro with Borussia Monchengladbach and a USMNT international, too. Claudio Reyna is now a strategic advisor at Austin FC in MLS.

7. Carlos Bocanegra

Fulham appears to be the club of choice for many USMNT players. Carlos Bocanegra was a rock at the back for the Cottagers during his 116 Premier League games, where he popped up with eight goals. Since retiring, Bocanegra worked as vice president of Atlanta United. He is now a board member at Red Wolves in the USL League One.

6. Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic is the USMNT's current talisman. Much was expected of the player when he joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund. He managed 20 goals with 11 assists in 98 Premier League games for the Blues.

Highs for Pulisic included a hat-trick against Burnley. He was particularly impressive when soccer resumed after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the latter stages of his Chelsea career, he lacked game time. However, he has since excelled at AC Milan.

5. Antonee Robinson

Not often do current players appear on these kinds of lists. However, Antonee Robinson deserves a place as he has been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons. He has played 158 times in the division for Fulham, scoring once and setting up 17 goals. He is often linked with bigger Premier League clubs.

4. Brian McBride

Brian McBride was one of the most potent USMNT strikers in the Premier League. He was sent on loan to Everton by the Columbus Crew, where he scored four goals in eight league matches. This led to a permanent move to Fulham, where he found the back of the net 32 times with six assists in 140 matches in the division. He helped Fulham through many relegation battles and was twice their player of the year. McBride is currently the general manager at Brooklyn FC in the USL Championship.

3. Tim Howard

Tim Howard is so synonymous with Everton, for whom he played 354 times in the Premier League, that many fans forget he also played 45 times in the division for Manchester United. His shot-stopping ability and his longevity are why he is so far up this list.

He even managed to score a Premier League goal when the wind took his clearance into the Bolton Wanderers net. Howard now works in the media and co-hosts the Unfiltered Soccer podcast with Donovan.

2. Brad Friedel

Brad Friedel just edges Howard for second place due to his playing more Premier League games with 450. Friedel had stints with Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

He holds the record for the most consecutive Premier League appearances with 310. This spanned across his time at Blackburn, Villa, and Spurs. This was ended when Andre Villas-Boas played Hugo Lloris instead of the American in 2012. Since retiring, Friedel has worked as a sporting director at Besiktas.

1. Clint Dempsey

Number one has to be Clint Dempsey. He was prolific for Fulham, scoring 50 goals with 16 assists in 189 Premier League games. He was particularly effective during the 2011/12 season, where he found the back of the net 17 times in the league.

His form for the Cottagers led to a transfer to Spurs, where he scored a further seven goals with four assists in 29 Premier League games. The Seattle Sounders managed to lure Dempsey away from Tottenham. However, he returned to Fulham on loan from the MLS side. Dempsey is now a pundit on CBS Sports.
