It's about time.

Let's get it out of the way: a 2-1 loss in the last warm-up game for a home World Cup is not good enough. I don't care if it was Germany, Argentina, Brazil, France, or Spain; you don't want to lose the last game before going into a crucial tournament.

That said, if you are a USMNT fan, then you can walk away with quite a few good observations. First, the strike from Antonee Robinson is truly next-level stuff. Look at the way he tracks the ball from the corner, and then the contact he makes. No keeper is stopping that, ever.

But Miles Robinson again disappointed in the back line, with Chris Richards still not sure if he can make the World Cup due to an ankle injury.

However, the biggest positive was the fight that the USMNT showed late in the game.

Christian Pulisic needs a Trinity Rodman

Christian Pulisic is the USMNT talisman, and other teams play to see who can kick him the hardest. The USWNT was taking on Brazil today, and after Brazil's Isa Haas dumped the USA's Lindsey Heaps, Trinity Rodman had a little bite back and smirked about it.

That is exactly what the US Men's team needs to find: someone willing to push back and make sure the other team knows they will get as good as they give. Late in the game against Germany, Timothy Weah had a challenge that you don't often see in a friendly.

Now, in a tournament, a tackle like that could kill you. Weah was sent off in the Copa with a red card for an out-of-control tackle, and he can't afford to do that again in the World Cup. So, there has to be a balance. But I would much rather have to pull a player back off the gas instead of trying to take their foot off the brake.

So, yes, the US did end up losing. But they showed fight in a way that has to be repeated every single game this month. No one is going to roll over in the World Cup, and this team doesn't have the pure talent to just kick the ball and win. They need the fight, they need a little more Trinity Rodman or Clint Dempsey in the way they play.

Now, you can't just fight, the quality has to back it up. Maybe Weah can be this teams Dempsey.
