It was a slow match day 3 for USMNT players in Ligue 1. Only four of the six Americans playing in France featured in their matches, but a goal from Giovanni Reyna stole the weekend and re-inspired belief among USMNT fans.
Giovanni Reyna, RC Strasbourg
It took Reyna only three matches to net his first goal for his new club. The midfielder started his second straight game and put in another great performance as Strasbourg smashed Troyes 6-2. Reyna played the first 63 minutes, capped off with a beautiful finish.

The resurgence is beautiful to see. Reyna has always had the talent, evidenced by his dazzling goal in the 2026 World Cup opener against Paraguay, but has never been able to put it together for his club. Strasbourg might be the place that changes. After being acquired for a fee of €3m this summer, the midfielder is already looking like a steal.
If Reyna continues to capitalize on these minutes, he could work his way to becoming a mainstay in the USMNT. While Malik Tillman has the starting role locked in, Reyna can cement himself as the backup attacking midfielder after facing some pressure from Diego Luna.
Tim Weah, Olympique Marseille
The right back played the full 90 minutes once again. But the captain failed to lead his side to a win for the second consecutive match. The 26-year-old completed 53/55 passes and put a shot on target, but it was not enough as Marseille fell 3-2 to Paris FC.
Mark McKenzie, Toulouse
McKenzie put in another strong 90-minute shift, but Toulouse's attack struggled again. The club lost 1-0 to Lille, going scoreless for the second time in three matches. McKenzie's defensive contributions included four clearances, two interceptions and three recoveries.
Tanner Tessmann, Lyon
Tessman played the final 14 minutes of Lyon's 3-1 victory, completing 9/10 passes and creating one chance.
Folarin Balogun, AS Monaco
Balogun did not travel with the club for their away clash against back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain amidst his continued injury recovery. There is also uncertainty following his failed transfer to Everton. Monaco won 2-1 and have collected a full nine points through three matches without Balogun playing a single minute.
Bryan Reynolds, Rennes
Reynolds did not feature in Rennes' 2-1 victory against Angers.
