The USMNT's CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal opponent has been determined. With the group stage of the top division of the CONCACAF Nations League now completed, it will be Haiti that takes on the USMNT for a spot in both the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the Nations League Finals.
As the top-ranked group runner-up, Haiti enters the Nations League quarterfinals off the heels of a group-stage campaign that saw them win three of their four contests. They went unbeaten to start their group-stage campaign, defeating Trinidad and Tobago 3-2, Costa Rica 2-0, and the Dominican Republic 4-1. That said, they lost their final group game to Costa Rica by a 2-0 scoreline; that ultimately cost them an opportunity to win their group and secure a quarterfinal matchup against Panama.
Outside of Haiti, Group A action in the CONCACAF Nations League saw Curaçao advance to the quarterfinal round as a group winner. Former continental powerhouse Costa Rica was sent out of the tournament in the group stage alongside the Dominican Republic; both nations will still be able to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup by way of the preliminary round. Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to Nicaragua, will be relegated to League B of the next edition of the tournament and are scheduled to contest a play-in round for qualification to the preliminary round of the 2026 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Haiti to cap off a banner year
For Haiti, the quarterfinal matchup is set to conclude a 2026 calendar year that, so far, has seen them go 4-1-6 (wins - draws - losses) in all competitions. The highlight of that year has been participating in the 2026 World Cup. It was the island nation's first World Cup appearance since 1974, so needless to say, it was a big deal.
Of course, the Haitians lost all three World Cup games. But they put up a good fight in a 1-0 loss to Scotland. They also held a 2-1 lead against Morocco before falling 4-2. In between, Haiti was outclassed by Brazil 3-0, ultimately finishing last in their group with no points.
USMNT vs Haiti history
Historically, the USMNT matchup with Haiti isn't as lopsided as you might think. In 24 all-time meetings, the U.S. has just nine wins, while Haiti has six wins, with nine draws. Of course, the recent history has belonged to the USMNT. The Americans are unbeaten in their last 10 matches against Haiti, who haven't beaten the U.S. since 1973.
The last meeting between the two teams was a 2-1 USMNT win in the Gold Cup last summer. Meetings between the Americans and the Haitians in the 2015 and 2021 Gold Cups both ended 1-0. Haiti's last result against the U.S. was a 2-2 draw in the 2009 Gold Cup.

Nations League bracket confirmed?
While CONCACAF themselves have not confirmed the 2026-27 Nations League bracket, it seems that it is nonetheless set ahead of the beginning of knockout round play.
According to CNF Sports, the USMNT will play the winner of the Canada-Guatemala quarterfinal tie during the Nations League semifinal round. As a result, the USMNT will avoid continental leaders Mexico, in addition to fourth-ranked Panama and upstarts Curaçao, until the third-place match or the final.
