First things first. USMNT’s left-back Antonee Robinson’s nickname is “Jedi,” after the Star Wars guardians of peace and justice. Not because he’s a huge fan, but as a kid he loved dressing up in the costumes and playing the games.

Then on his first soccer team he was asked what he wanted to be called by, he said “Jedi.” In an interview with The Cycling GK, Robinson said, “I went ‘round introducing myself as ‘Jedi’ to everyone from that day. Even when I stopped watching Star Wars, I just said, ‘I’m Jedi now.’ I didn’t really associate with [the movie]. It just stuck.”

Jedi is 28 years old and is the left-back for Fulham. Born in England, he plays for the US because his father is a naturalized US citizen. He made his USMNT debut in May 2018 and was named the U.S. Player of the Year award for 2024.

Last year, on March 2nd, Fulham eliminated Manchester United in the FA Cup with Jedi as the captain. He scored the winning penalty in the game-deciding shoot-out. He finished the season with 10 assists, the most of any defender.

Jedi’s first squad involvement was the March 2018 match against Paraguay, who is in Group D with the USMNT in World Cup 2026. His first game was in the May 2018 match against Bolivia, where he played the full 90 and got an assist in the 3-0 win.

Jedi is an elite left-back with exceptional speed and likes a good tackle. His anticipation is excellent, especially in intercepting passes, where he ranks among the top Premier League defenders for interceptions and ball recoveries. On offense, he makes overlapping runs and delivers juicy crosses.

2025 was difficult for Jedi, missing time due to knee surgery, but he’s back with Fulham and seems to have returned to form. Look for Jedi to be a force at the 2026 World Cup.
