Sergiño Dest is one of the best right-sided players the USMNT has right now. He has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, AC Milan, Ajax, and now PSV Eindhoven.
Who is Sergiño Dest?
Sergiño Dest was born in the Netherlands, but qualifies to play for the USMNT through his father. He is naturally a right-back, but can play left-back and as a right-midfielder.
Dest has had many ups and downs in his career due to on-field discipline issues and injuries. However, he has finally found a club he can settle at and play regularly for in PSV.
Dest is arguably the best right-back the USMNT has right now. Although he is injury prone and competing with the likes of Joe Scally and Alex Freeman for a starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino's roster.

Sergiño Dest began his career with Ajax and was quickly snapped up by Barcelona. Whilst he won the Copa del Rey with Barca, he only made 72 appearances during his four years with them.
Dest was sent on loan to Milan, but that turned into a disaster. He made just eight Serie A appearances for the Italian side before returning to Barca.
The right-back then returned to the Netherlands with the rivals of his first club, Ajax, by joining PSV. He was initially on loan at PSV, but was so integral that he joined the club permanently despite suffering a cruciate ligament tear.
Dest has gone on to win the Eredivisie three times with PSV, and more success with the Dutch side is sure to come.

Sergiño Dest is a very attacking full-back. He can dribble, cross the ball, or cut inside and take a shot on himself in attacking areas. His ability on the ball and versatility make him a great addition to Mauricio Pochettino's roster.

Dest made his debut for the USMNT in 2019 in a 3-0 defeat to Mexico in a friendly. He played left-back in his first couple of games for the USMNT. He has since been used in his preferred position of right-back, but also as a left and right midfielder.
The right-back helped the USMNT win the CONCACAF Nations League in 2021 and was their first choice right back at the World Cup the following year. However, sending offs in the Nations League against Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago put a doubt in many supporters' minds about his attitude.
Dest has bounced back from this and re-established himself as a key player for the Stars and Stripes. However, he continues to battle injuries, recently suffering a hamstring injury, which he will be hoping to have gotten over before the World Cup this summer.
